Levofloxacin (750mg)
Active composition
Levofloxacin inhibits DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing bacterial DNA replication.
Medical applications
Levelfox 750 Tablet contains Levofloxacin 750 mg, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic effective against a wide range of bacterial infections. It acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby exerting bactericidal activity. Levelfox 750 is indicated for the treatment of various infections including respiratory tract infections (such as community-acquired pneumonia, chronic bronchitis exacerbations), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain types of prostatitis. It is particularly useful in infections caused by susceptible strains of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The tablet should be administered orally, preferably on an empty stomach or at least one hour before or two hours after meals to enhance absorption. Dosage and duration depend on the severity and type of infection, and renal function should be considered to adjust dosing accordingly. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, and potential photosensitivity. Caution is advised in patients with a history of tendon disorders related to fluoroquinolone use, and it is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to Levofloxacin or other quinolones. Use during pregnancy and lactation should be avoided unless clearly necessary. Patients should be advised to complete the full course of therapy to prevent resistance development.
