Lcix 500 Tablet DT contains Cefuroxime 500 mg, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and Lyme disease. Cefuroxime acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. The tablet is designed as a dispersible tablet (DT) to facilitate ease of administration, especially in patients with swallowing difficulties. Lcix 500 Tablet DT demonstrates good oral bioavailability and achieves therapeutic concentrations in various tissues and fluids, making it suitable for systemic infections. It is generally well tolerated, with common adverse effects including gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort. Hypersensitivity reactions may occur in patients with a history of penicillin or cephalosporin allergy. Dosage should be adjusted based on the severity of infection and renal function. Lcix 500 Tablet DT should be used under medical supervision, and the full prescribed course must be completed to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance.
