Lantus 100IU/ml Solution for Injection contains insulin glargine, a long-acting basal insulin analogue used for the management of diabetes mellitus in adults, adolescents, and children aged two years and above. Insulin glargine provides a steady and prolonged glucose-lowering effect, mimicking the body’s natural basal insulin secretion over a 24-hour period, which helps maintain stable blood glucose levels and reduces the risk of hyperglycemia between meals and overnight.

It is indicated for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes when diet, exercise, and oral antidiabetic agents alone do not provide adequate glycemic control. Lantus should be administered subcutaneously once daily at the same time each day, with dosage individualized based on the patient’s metabolic needs, blood glucose monitoring results, and glycemic control goals. It should not be administered intravenously or via insulin pumps.
Patients must be educated on proper injection techniques, dose adjustment, and recognition and management of hypoglycemia, a potential adverse effect. Lantus is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to insulin glargine or any of its excipients. Careful monitoring is essential during changes in insulin regimen, concomitant illness, or changes in lifestyle to avoid hypo- or hyperglycemia.
This product should be stored under recommended conditions to maintain potency and efficacy.
