Lactagard 1500 Injection is a sterile, injectable antibiotic formulation combining Cefoperazone 1000 mg and Sulbactam 500 mg, designed for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefoperazone, a third-generation cephalosporin, exhibits potent bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. Sulbactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Cefoperazone by preventing enzymatic degradation by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending the antimicrobial spectrum. Lactagard 1500 is indicated for severe infections including lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and gynecological infections caused by susceptible organisms. The combination is particularly valuable in managing infections caused by resistant strains where beta-lactamase production is a concern. Administered via intravenous or intramuscular injection, dosing should be guided by the severity of infection, renal function, and clinical response.
