Ornidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, is effective against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa through disruption of DNA synthesis. This dual-action suspension is indicated for infections caused by susceptible organisms, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and certain protozoal infections such as amoebiasis and giardiasis. The oral suspension formulation facilitates ease of administration, particularly in pediatric and geriatric populations.
