Koran 10 Tablet contains Nicorandil 10 mg, a vasodilatory agent used primarily in the management of angina pectoris. Nicorandil exerts its therapeutic effect through a dual mechanism: it acts as a nitrate donor, releasing nitric oxide, and opens ATP-sensitive potassium channels in vascular smooth muscle, resulting in vasodilation of both arterial and venous vessels. This leads to a reduction in myocardial oxygen demand by decreasing preload and afterload, thereby alleviating chest pain associated with ischemic heart disease.

Koran 10 is indicated for the prevention and long-term treatment of chronic stable angina and may be used when conventional anti-anginal therapies are insufficient or contraindicated. The recommended dosage should be individualized based on clinical response and tolerability, typically starting with 10 mg twice daily, with adjustments made as necessary. Common adverse effects include headache, dizziness, flushing, and gastrointestinal disturbances.
Caution is advised in patients with hypotension, severe hepatic or renal impairment, and in those concurrently using other vasodilators or phosphodiesterase inhibitors due to the risk of significant hypotension. Koran 10 Tablet should be prescribed and monitored by healthcare professionals to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes and patient safety.
