Kolibitor 10ml Injection is a sterile, injectable formulation containing Sulfamethoxazole 80mg/ml and Trimethoprim 16mg/ml, a combination antibiotic used for the treatment of a variety of bacterial infections. Sulfamethoxazole, a sulfonamide antibiotic, inhibits bacterial synthesis of dihydrofolic acid, while Trimethoprim blocks the subsequent step by inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase, resulting in a synergistic bactericidal effect.

This combination is effective against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, including strains resistant to individual components. Kolibitor is indicated for the treatment of urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and certain types of systemic infections caused by susceptible bacteria. The injectable form allows for parenteral administration in cases where oral therapy is not feasible or when rapid therapeutic levels are required.
Dosage and duration of therapy should be determined based on the severity of infection, patient weight, renal function, and clinical response. Caution is advised in patients with hypersensitivity to sulfonamides, renal or hepatic impairment, and in those with a history of blood dyscrasias. Adverse effects may include hypersensitivity reactions, gastrointestinal disturbances, and hematological abnormalities.
Monitoring of renal function and blood counts during prolonged therapy is recommended. Kolibitor 10ml Injection should be used under strict medical supervision to ensure safety and efficacy.
