Kobaflox-OZ Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Ofloxacin 200 mg and Ornidazole 500 mg, indicated for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial and protozoal infections. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby preventing DNA replication and transcription. Ornidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, is effective against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by disrupting DNA synthesis and causing cell death. This synergistic combination is particularly useful in managing mixed infections involving both aerobic and anaerobic pathogens, such as gastrointestinal infections, genitourinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections. Kobaflox-OZ is administered orally and should be used under medical supervision with appropriate dosage adjustments in patients with renal or hepatic impairment. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, dizziness, headache, and hypersensitivity reactions. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones or nitroimidazoles, and it is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
