Klox-D 500 Capsule contains Dicloxacillin 500 mg, a beta-lactam antibiotic belonging to the penicillin class, effective against a broad spectrum of gram-positive bacterial infections. Dicloxacillin acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. It is particularly useful in treating infections caused by penicillinase-producing staphylococci, including skin and soft tissue infections, respiratory tract infections, bone and joint infections, and endocarditis.

Klox-D 500 is indicated for conditions such as impetigo, cellulitis, abscesses, and wound infections, where susceptible organisms are involved. The capsule formulation ensures convenient oral administration with good bioavailability. Dosage should be individualized based on the severity and site of infection, typically administered every 6 hours to maintain effective plasma concentrations.
Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins or cephalosporins. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, as well as hypersensitivity reactions like rash and urticaria. Use during pregnancy and lactation should be under medical supervision. Klox-D 500 Capsule should be used in accordance with susceptibility testing and antimicrobial stewardship principles to minimize resistance development.
