Klof TZ 200mg/600mg Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Ofloxacin 200mg and Tinidazole 600mg, indicated for the treatment of various bacterial and protozoal infections. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby preventing DNA replication and transcription. Tinidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, is effective against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by disrupting DNA synthesis through the formation of toxic intermediates.

This synergistic combination provides broad-spectrum activity against mixed infections, including genitourinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections such as bacterial vaginosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and amoebiasis. Klof TZ is particularly useful in polymicrobial infections where both aerobic and anaerobic pathogens are implicated.
The recommended dosage should be adhered to as prescribed by a healthcare professional to minimize resistance development and adverse effects. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, and, rarely, hypersensitivity reactions. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones or nitroimidazoles, and it is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.
Renal and hepatic function monitoring may be necessary during prolonged therapy.
