Klclav DS 457mg Oral Suspension is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 400mg and Clavulanic Acid 57mg per dose, designed for the treatment of various bacterial infections. Amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic, exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, thereby targeting susceptible Gram-positive and some Gram-negative organisms. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Amoxycillin by preventing enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thus extending its spectrum of activity against resistant strains. This oral suspension is indicated for the management of respiratory tract infections, otitis media, sinusitis, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and other bacterial infections where beta-lactamase-producing pathogens are suspected. The formulation allows for ease of administration in pediatric and adult patients unable to swallow tablets. Dosage and duration of therapy should be determined based on the severity of infection, patient age, and renal function. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and rash.
