Klavin 250mg Tablet contains Levofloxacin, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial infections. It functions by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby preventing bacterial cell proliferation. Klavin is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections such as community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial sinusitis, and chronic bronchitis exacerbations.

It is also used in urinary tract infections, including complicated and uncomplicated cases, as well as skin and soft tissue infections. The recommended dosage and duration depend on the severity and type of infection, with adjustments necessary for patients with renal impairment. Klavin 250mg should be administered orally, preferably on an empty stomach for optimal absorption.
Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, and photosensitivity. Serious but rare side effects may involve tendinitis, tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, and central nervous system effects. Caution is advised in patients with a history of seizures or cardiac arrhythmias. Klavin is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones and should be used judiciously to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance.
