This combination is indicated for the treatment and prevention of ocular infections accompanied by inflammation, such as bacterial conjunctivitis and postoperative inflammation following ocular surgery. Gatifloxacin acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby preventing bacterial replication and effectively eradicating susceptible gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens. Ketorolac provides potent anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), leading to decreased synthesis of prostaglandins responsible for inflammation and pain. Ketomar Ophthalmic Solution is administered topically as eye drops, ensuring targeted delivery with minimal systemic absorption. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation. Caution is advised in patients with a history of corneal epithelial defects or dry eye syndrome.
