Kefbax CV 500mg/125mg Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefuroxime 500mg and Clavulanic Acid 125mg. Cefuroxime, a second-generation cephalosporin, exhibits broad-spectrum bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Cefuroxime by preventing enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic, thereby extending its spectrum to beta-lactamase producing resistant strains. This synergistic combination is indicated for the treatment of various infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media caused by susceptible organisms. Kefbax CV is particularly valuable in managing infections where resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics is suspected or confirmed. The tablet should be administered orally, preferably with food to improve absorption and reduce gastrointestinal discomfort. Dosage and duration of therapy should be based on the severity of infection, patient age, renal function, and clinical response. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins.
