Kavam 375 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 250 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg. Amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin derivative, exerts bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, while Clavulanic Acid acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor, preventing enzymatic degradation of Amoxycillin by resistant bacteria. This synergistic action enhances the efficacy of the antibiotic against a wide range of beta-lactamase producing pathogens. Kavam 375 is indicated for the treatment of various infections caused by susceptible organisms, including respiratory tract infections such as sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia; urinary tract infections; skin and soft tissue infections; and otitis media. It is also effective in managing dental infections and certain gastrointestinal infections like Helicobacter pylori-associated ulcers. The usual dosage and duration depend on the severity and type of infection, and should be determined by a healthcare professional. Kavam 375 is generally well tolerated; however, patients may experience side effects such as gastrointestinal disturbances, hypersensitivity reactions, or, rarely, hepatic dysfunction.
