Sulbactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Ceftriaxone by preventing the enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic, thereby extending its spectrum to beta-lactamase producing resistant strains. Kauris-CTS 375 is indicated for the management of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, intra-abdominal infections, septicemia, and bone and joint infections caused by susceptible organisms.
The combination is administered via intramuscular or intravenous injection, with dosage and duration tailored according to the severity of infection and patient-specific factors. This formulation is particularly valuable in treating infections caused by resistant bacteria where monotherapy with Ceftriaxone may be inadequate. Adverse effects are generally mild and may include local injection site reactions, gastrointestinal disturbances, and hypersensitivity reactions.
Use with caution in patients with a history of penicillin allergy. Kauris-CTS 375 Injection should be prescribed based on culture and sensitivity results to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes.
