Kadcef-O Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefixime 200 mg and Ofloxacin 200 mg, designed for the treatment of a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin, exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication and transcription, thereby preventing bacterial proliferation. The synergistic action of these two agents enhances efficacy against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, including strains resistant to monotherapy. Kadcef-O is indicated for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, otitis media, gonorrhea, and skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible organisms. It is essential to use this medication under medical supervision, ensuring appropriate dosage and duration to minimize resistance development. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, and hypersensitivity reactions. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or fluoroquinolones, and in those with renal or hepatic impairment. Kadcef-O should be administered with adequate hydration, and patients are advised to complete the full course of therapy even if symptoms improve. Avoid concurrent use with antacids or supplements containing magnesium or aluminum to prevent reduced absorption.
