Kaaflox-OZ Tablet contains a combination of Ofloxacin 200 mg and Ornidazole 500 mg, formulated to provide broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against a variety of bacterial and protozoal infections. Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, exerts its effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes critical for DNA replication, transcription, and repair, thereby leading to bacterial cell death. Ornidazole, a nitroimidazole derivative, is effective against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by disrupting DNA synthesis and causing strand breakage. This synergistic combination is particularly useful in treating mixed infections involving both aerobic and anaerobic pathogens, including gastrointestinal infections, genitourinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections. Kaaflox-OZ is indicated for use in adults and should be prescribed based on susceptibility patterns and clinical judgment. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones or nitroimidazoles, and it should be used with care in individuals with renal or hepatic impairment. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, dizziness, and rarely, hypersensitivity reactions. Patients are advised to complete the full course of therapy to prevent resistance development.
