K-Cor 5 Tablet contains Nicorandil 5 mg, a vasodilatory agent used primarily in the management of angina pectoris. Nicorandil acts by dual mechanisms: it opens ATP-sensitive potassium channels and donates nitric oxide, leading to both arterial and venous dilation. This results in reduced myocardial oxygen demand by decreasing preload and afterload, thereby improving coronary blood flow and alleviating ischemic chest pain.

K-Cor 5 is indicated for the prophylactic treatment of chronic stable angina and is often prescribed when beta-blockers or calcium channel blockers are insufficient or contraindicated. The tablet should be administered orally, typically once or twice daily, with dosage adjustments based on clinical response and tolerability. Common adverse effects may include headache, flushing, dizziness, and gastrointestinal disturbances.
Rare but serious side effects include ulceration, particularly in the gastrointestinal tract, necessitating careful monitoring. Caution is advised in patients with hypotension, severe hepatic or renal impairment, and those concurrently taking other vasodilators or antihypertensive agents. K-Cor 5 should be used under medical supervision, with regular assessment to optimize therapeutic outcomes and minimize potential risks.
It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Nicorandil or nitrate derivatives.
