Jusdap 5 Tablet contains Dapagliflozin 5 mg, an oral antihyperglycemic agent belonging to the class of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. It is primarily indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control. Dapagliflozin acts by inhibiting SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubules, reducing glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion, thereby lowering plasma glucose levels. This mechanism is independent of insulin secretion or action, making it effective across various stages of type 2 diabetes. Jusdap 5 may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, including metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose, and body weight, with additional cardiovascular and renal benefits observed in certain patient populations. Common adverse effects include genital mycotic infections, urinary tract infections, and increased urination. It is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, or on dialysis. Caution is advised in patients with a history of ketoacidosis or volume depletion.
