Jospar 250 Tablet contains Cefuroxime 250mg, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Cefuroxime exerts its bactericidal action by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. Jospar 250 is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and uncomplicated gonorrhea. It is also used in the management of Lyme disease and certain types of otitis media. The tablet formulation ensures convenient oral administration with good bioavailability. Dosage should be individualized based on the severity of infection, patient age, renal function, and clinical response, typically administered twice daily. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort, while hypersensitivity reactions may occur in patients with beta-lactam allergy. Caution is advised in patients with a history of penicillin allergy, and renal impairment may require dosage adjustment. Jospar 250 should be used under medical supervision, and the full prescribed course must be completed to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance.
