Jollimine Capsule contains Penicillamine 250 mg, a chelating agent primarily indicated for the treatment of Wilson’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and cystinuria. Penicillamine acts by binding to excess copper and other heavy metals, facilitating their excretion through the urine, thereby reducing toxic accumulation in tissues. In Wilson’s disease, Jollimine helps prevent hepatic and neurological damage by promoting copper elimination.

For rheumatoid arthritis, it exhibits immunomodulatory effects, reducing inflammation and slowing disease progression in patients unresponsive to conventional therapies. In cystinuria, Penicillamine decreases cystine stone formation by increasing cystine solubility in urine. The capsule should be administered orally, with dosage individualized based on the condition and patient response.
Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, rash, leukopenia, and proteinuria; therefore, regular monitoring of blood counts, renal, and liver function is recommended during therapy. Jollimine is contraindicated in patients with penicillamine hypersensitivity and should be used cautiously in pregnancy and lactation. Concomitant use with other immunosuppressants or nephrotoxic drugs requires careful supervision.
