Dapagliflozin, a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, promotes renal glucose excretion, thereby reducing plasma glucose levels. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily decreases hepatic glucose production and enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity.
