Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea class drug, stimulates pancreatic beta cells to enhance insulin secretion, thereby reducing blood glucose levels. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily decreases hepatic glucose production and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity, contributing to better glycemic control without causing significant hypoglycemia. Voglibose, an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor, delays carbohydrate absorption from the intestine, minimizing postprandial hyperglycemia.
