Januvia 100mg Tablet contains Sitagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Sitagliptin works by enhancing the levels of incretin hormones, which increase insulin release from pancreatic beta cells and decrease glucagon secretion from alpha cells in a glucose-dependent manner, thereby improving glycemic control.

Januvia is prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes, either as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin. The recommended dose is 100mg once daily, with or without food. Januvia is generally well tolerated; however, potential adverse effects include nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infections, headache, and rare cases of pancreatitis.
Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, and dose adjustments may be necessary. Januvia does not cause hypoglycemia when used alone but may increase the risk when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas. Regular monitoring of blood glucose and renal function is recommended during therapy. Januvia offers a convenient oral treatment option that supports glycemic control with a low risk of weight gain and hypoglycemia.
