Ivabradine (5mg)
Active composition
Ivabradine selectively inhibits the If current in the sinoatrial node, reducing heart rate without affecting contractility.
Medical applications
Ivarest 5 Tablet contains Ivabradine 5 mg, a selective sinus node inhibitor used primarily for the management of chronic stable angina pectoris and heart failure. Ivabradine acts by specifically inhibiting the If current in the sinoatrial node, resulting in heart rate reduction without affecting myocardial contractility or intracardiac conduction. This heart rate reduction decreases myocardial oxygen demand, thereby alleviating angina symptoms and improving exercise tolerance. Ivarest 5 is indicated for patients with stable angina who have a normal sinus rhythm and a heart rate above 70 beats per minute, particularly when beta-blockers are contraindicated or insufficient. Additionally, it is prescribed as an adjunctive therapy in patients with chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) who remain symptomatic despite optimal standard treatment, including beta-blockers. Ivabradine is generally well tolerated; however, common adverse effects may include bradycardia, luminous phenomena (phosphenes), headache, and dizziness. It is contraindicated in patients with acute decompensated heart failure, severe hypotension, sinoatrial block, or sick sinus syndrome. Caution is advised when co-administered with other heart rate-lowering agents. Regular monitoring of heart rate and rhythm is recommended during therapy with Ivarest 5 Tablet to ensure therapeutic efficacy and safety.
