Ivabradine (10mg)
Active composition
Ivabradine selectively inhibits the If current in the sinoatrial node, reducing heart rate without affecting contractility.
Medical applications
Ivanode OD 10mg Tablet contains Ivabradine 10mg, a selective sinus node inhibitor used primarily for the management of chronic stable angina pectoris and heart failure. Ivabradine acts by specifically inhibiting the If current in the sinoatrial node, resulting in heart rate reduction without affecting myocardial contractility or intracardiac conduction. This mechanism helps to decrease myocardial oxygen demand, thereby alleviating angina symptoms and improving exercise tolerance. Ivanode OD is indicated for patients with stable angina who are in sinus rhythm with a resting heart rate of at least 70 beats per minute and who are either intolerant to or inadequately controlled by beta-blockers. Additionally, it is prescribed as an adjunctive therapy in patients with chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) to reduce the risk of hospitalization for worsening heart failure. The once-daily oral formulation ensures sustained plasma concentration and convenient dosing. Common adverse effects include bradycardia, luminous phenomena (phosphenes), and occasional dizziness. Caution is advised in patients with conduction abnormalities, severe hypotension, or hepatic impairment. Ivanode OD should be used under medical supervision, with regular monitoring of heart rate and clinical status to optimize therapeutic outcomes.
