Ivamac OD 10mg Tablet PR contains Ivabradine 10mg as its active ingredient, indicated primarily for the management of chronic stable angina pectoris and chronic heart failure. Ivabradine is a selective inhibitor of the If ("funny") current in the sinoatrial node, which plays a crucial role in regulating heart rate. By specifically reducing the heart rate without affecting myocardial contractility or intracardiac conduction, Ivamac OD helps to decrease myocardial oxygen demand and improve exercise tolerance in patients with angina. It is particularly beneficial for patients who are intolerant to beta-blockers or in whom beta-blockers are contraindicated. In chronic heart failure, Ivabradine is used to reduce hospitalization rates by lowering heart rate in patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVEF ≤35%) who are in sinus rhythm with a resting heart rate ≥70 bpm despite optimal standard therapy. The once-daily prolonged-release formulation ensures sustained plasma concentrations, allowing for convenient dosing and improved patient compliance. Ivamac OD should be used with caution in patients with bradycardia, sinoatrial block, or severe hypotension. Common adverse effects include luminous phenomena, bradycardia, and headache. It is contraindicated in patients with acute decompensated heart failure, pacemaker dependence, or severe hepatic impairment.
