Ivamac 5 Tablet contains Ivabradine 5mg, a selective sinus node inhibitor used primarily for the treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris and heart failure. Ivabradine acts by specifically inhibiting the If current in the sinoatrial node, resulting in a reduction of heart rate without affecting myocardial contractility or intracardiac conduction. This mechanism helps decrease myocardial oxygen demand, thereby alleviating angina symptoms and improving exercise tolerance. Ivamac 5 is indicated for patients with stable angina who are in sinus rhythm with a resting heart rate of at least 70 beats per minute and who are either intolerant to or inadequately controlled by beta-blockers. Additionally, it is prescribed for patients with chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction to reduce the risk of hospitalization due to worsening heart failure. The recommended dosage is individualized based on heart rate response, with close monitoring to avoid bradycardia. Common adverse effects include luminous phenomena (phosphenes), bradycardia, and headache. Ivamac 5 should be used cautiously in patients with conduction abnormalities, hypotension, or hepatic impairment.
