Ivabradine (5mg)
Active composition
Ivabradine selectively inhibits the If current in the sinoatrial node, reducing heart rate without affecting contractility.
Medical applications
Ivabratco 5 Tablet contains Ivabradine 5 mg, a selective inhibitor of the If current in the sinoatrial node, which reduces heart rate without affecting myocardial contractility or intracardiac conduction. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris in patients with normal sinus rhythm who are unable to tolerate or have contraindications to beta-blockers, as well as for the management of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) in patients who remain symptomatic despite optimal standard therapy including beta-blockers or those who have contraindications to beta-blockers. Ivabradine works by selectively inhibiting the pacemaker If current, leading to a reduction in heart rate, thereby decreasing myocardial oxygen demand and improving exercise tolerance. The recommended dosage is typically one tablet (5 mg) twice daily, adjusted according to heart rate response and clinical condition, with a maximum dose of 7.5 mg twice daily. Ivabratco should be used with caution in patients with bradycardia, sinoatrial block, or severe hepatic impairment. Common adverse effects include bradycardia, luminous phenomena (phosphenes), and headaches. It is contraindicated in patients with acute decompensated heart failure, hypotension, or pacemaker dependence. Regular monitoring of heart rate and clinical status is advised during treatment.
