Ivabrad OD 10 Tablet PR contains Ivabradine 10 mg, a selective inhibitor of the If current in the sinoatrial node, used primarily for the management of chronic stable angina pectoris and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. Ivabradine acts by reducing the heart rate without affecting myocardial contractility or intracardiac conduction, thereby decreasing myocardial oxygen demand and improving exercise tolerance. It is indicated in patients with stable angina who are in sinus rhythm and have a resting heart rate of ≥70 beats per minute, particularly when beta-blockers are contraindicated or insufficient. Additionally, Ivabradine is used in symptomatic chronic heart failure patients with left ventricular ejection fraction ≤35%, in sinus rhythm with a resting heart rate ≥70 bpm, to reduce the risk of hospitalization for worsening heart failure. The tablet is designed for once-daily administration with prolonged release properties, ensuring stable plasma concentrations and enhanced patient compliance. Dosage should be individualized based on heart rate response and tolerability, with careful monitoring to avoid bradycardia. Common adverse effects include luminous phenomena (phosphenes), bradycardia, and headache.
