Ivabradine (10mg)
Active composition
Ivabradine selectively inhibits the If current in the sinoatrial node, reducing heart rate without affecting contractility.
Medical applications
Ivabeat OD 10 Tablet PR contains Ivabradine 10 mg, a selective sinus node If channel inhibitor used primarily for the management of chronic stable angina pectoris and heart failure. Ivabradine acts by specifically reducing the heart rate without affecting myocardial contractility or intracardiac conduction, thereby decreasing myocardial oxygen demand and improving exercise tolerance in patients with angina. It is indicated as an adjunctive therapy for patients with stable angina who are intolerant to or inadequately controlled by beta-blockers, or in combination with beta-blockers when heart rate control is insufficient. Additionally, Ivabradine is employed in the treatment of chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction in patients who remain symptomatic despite optimal standard therapy, including beta-blockers, when heart rate remains elevated above 70 beats per minute. The drug is administered orally once daily, with the prolonged-release formulation ensuring sustained plasma concentrations and stable heart rate control over 24 hours. Common adverse effects include bradycardia, luminous phenomena (phosphenes), and headache. Ivabradine is contraindicated in patients with acute decompensated heart failure, severe hypotension, sinoatrial block, or pacemaker dependence. Regular monitoring of heart rate and rhythm is recommended during therapy to optimize dosing and minimize adverse effects.
