Isryl-M 1 Forte Tablet SR is a combination oral hypoglycemic agent containing Glimepiride 1 mg and Metformin 1000 mg, formulated for sustained release to optimize glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glimepiride, a sulfonylurea, stimulates pancreatic beta cells to increase insulin secretion, thereby reducing blood glucose levels. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by decreasing hepatic glucose production, enhancing peripheral glucose uptake, and improving insulin sensitivity, without causing significant hypoglycemia when used alone.

The sustained-release formulation ensures gradual absorption, minimizing gastrointestinal side effects commonly associated with metformin and providing prolonged therapeutic effect, facilitating once-daily dosing and improving patient compliance. Isryl-M 1 Forte is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes inadequately controlled on monotherapy or lifestyle modifications.
Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, hepatic dysfunction, or cardiovascular conditions. Regular monitoring of blood glucose, renal function, and lactic acidosis symptoms is recommended. This combination therapy offers a synergistic approach to managing hyperglycemia by targeting multiple pathophysiological defects of type 2 diabetes, thereby reducing the risk of microvascular and macrovascular complications.
