Introclav-DS Dry Syrup is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 400 mg and Clavulanic Acid 57 mg per 5 ml of reconstituted suspension. Amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic, exerts bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, while Clavulanic Acid acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor, preventing enzymatic degradation of Amoxycillin and thereby extending its spectrum of activity against beta-lactamase producing resistant bacteria. This synergistic combination is effective in the treatment of various bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, otitis media, sinusitis, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and dental infections. Introclav-DS Dry Syrup is particularly useful in pediatric patients due to its palatable formulation and ease of administration. The dosage and duration of therapy should be determined based on the severity of infection, patient age, and renal function. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillins or cephalosporins. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.
