Insuvil-M Tablet is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing Metformin 500 mg and Vildagliptin 50 mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by decreasing hepatic glucose production, improving insulin sensitivity, and enhancing peripheral glucose uptake, thereby aiding in glycemic control. Vildagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, enhances the levels of incretin hormones, which increase insulin secretion and suppress glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. The synergistic action of these agents helps achieve better glycemic control compared to monotherapy, reducing fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels. Insuvil-M is prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise when these measures alone do not provide adequate glycemic control. It is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal impairment, or hypersensitivity to its components. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and rarely, hypoglycemia when combined with other antidiabetic agents.
