Injocef 500 Tablet contains Cefuroxime 500 mg, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, and septicemia. Cefuroxime acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. The drug is administered orally and exhibits good bioavailability, with peak plasma concentrations typically achieved within 2 to 3 hours post-dose. Injocef 500 Tablet is generally well tolerated; however, potential adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, as well as hypersensitivity reactions in patients with a history of beta-lactam allergy. Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. It is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins.
