Cefuroxime exerts its bactericidal action by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. Infoxim 500 is administered orally and is well absorbed, with peak plasma concentrations typically achieved within 2 to 3 hours post-dose. It is important to complete the full prescribed course to prevent the development of resistance. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort, as well as hypersensitivity reactions in susceptible individuals.
Caution is advised in patients with a history of penicillin or cephalosporin allergy. Dose adjustment may be necessary in patients with renal impairment. Infoxim 500 should be used under medical supervision, and its use should be guided by culture and sensitivity testing whenever possible to ensure appropriate antimicrobial therapy.
