Amoxycillin inhibits the synthesis of peptidoglycan in bacterial cell walls, leading to cell lysis and death.
Medical applications
Infimox-CV 625 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed to combat a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. Amoxycillin, a beta-lactam antibiotic, exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to cell lysis and death. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, protects Amoxycillin from enzymatic degradation by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending its antimicrobial activity against resistant strains. Infimox-CV 625 is indicated for the treatment of various infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and sinusitis caused by susceptible organisms. The combination is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including beta-lactamase producing strains. Dosage and duration of therapy should be determined by the severity and type of infection, as well as patient-specific factors such as renal function. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, diarrhea, and occasional hypersensitivity reactions. Caution is advised in patients with a history of penicillin allergy. Infimox-CV 625 Tablet should be used under medical supervision to ensure appropriate use and to minimize the risk of resistance development.
