Infeclav 625 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. Amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic, inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. However, many bacteria produce beta-lactamase enzymes that degrade amoxycillin, rendering it ineffective. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, protects amoxycillin from enzymatic degradation, thereby extending its spectrum of activity against beta-lactamase-producing organisms. Infeclav 625 is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, sinusitis, and dental infections caused by susceptible bacteria. The combination is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, including resistant strains. It is administered orally, with dosage and duration tailored according to the severity and type of infection, patient age, and renal function. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, diarrhea, and occasional hypersensitivity reactions. Caution is advised in patients with a history of penicillin allergy or hepatic impairment. Infeclav 625 should be used under medical supervision to ensure appropriate use and to minimize the risk of antimicrobial resistance.
