Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Amoxycillin inhibits the synthesis of peptidoglycan in bacterial cell walls, leading to cell lysis and death.
Medical applications
Indclav 375 Tablet is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Amoxycillin 250 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, designed to treat a variety of bacterial infections. Amoxycillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic, acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. However, some bacteria produce beta-lactamase enzymes that inactivate amoxycillin, rendering it ineffective. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, protects amoxycillin from enzymatic degradation, thereby extending its spectrum of activity against beta-lactamase-producing resistant strains. Indclav 375 is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, sinusitis, and dental infections caused by susceptible organisms. The combination is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including strains resistant to amoxycillin alone. Dosage and duration of therapy should be determined based on the severity of infection, patient age, and renal function. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, diarrhea, and occasional hypersensitivity reactions. Caution is advised in patients with a history of penicillin allergy or hepatic impairment. Indclav 375 Tablet should be used under medical supervision to ensure appropriate use and to minimize the risk of antibiotic resistance.
