Increglip M 50mg/500mg Tablet PR is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing Sitagliptin 50mg and Metformin 500mg, indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Sitagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, enhances the incretin system by increasing levels of active incretin hormones, which regulate glucose homeostasis by increasing insulin synthesis and release from pancreatic beta cells and decreasing glucagon secretion from alpha cells, thereby reducing hepatic glucose production. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by decreasing hepatic gluconeogenesis and improving peripheral insulin sensitivity, leading to enhanced glucose uptake and utilization. The combination provides complementary mechanisms to achieve better glycemic control in patients inadequately controlled by diet, exercise, and monotherapy. Increglip M is administered orally, with a recommended dosage tailored to individual patient needs and glycemic response. It is generally well tolerated; however, common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort, primarily attributed to metformin.
