Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin, exhibits bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, thereby effectively targeting both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Cefpodoxime by preventing enzymatic degradation of the antibiotic, particularly against beta-lactamase producing resistant strains. This synergistic combination is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and other susceptible bacterial infections. Ignipod CV 200 demonstrates a favorable pharmacokinetic profile with good oral bioavailability and tissue penetration. It is generally well-tolerated; however, common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort.
