Ignalis-M 100/500 Tablet ER is a combination oral antidiabetic medication containing Sitagliptin 100 mg and Metformin 500 mg in an extended-release formulation. It is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in patients inadequately controlled on diet and exercise alone or those already receiving monotherapy with either component. Sitagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, enhances the levels of incretin hormones, thereby increasing insulin synthesis and release from pancreatic beta cells and decreasing glucagon secretion from alpha cells in a glucose-dependent manner.

Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by reducing hepatic glucose production, improving insulin sensitivity, and enhancing peripheral glucose uptake. The extended-release formulation allows for once-daily dosing, improving patient compliance and minimizing gastrointestinal side effects commonly associated with immediate-release metformin. Ignalis-M 100/500 Tablet ER should be used as part of a comprehensive diabetes management plan, including diet, exercise, and regular blood glucose monitoring.
Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, hepatic dysfunction, or conditions predisposing to lactic acidosis.
