Ciprofloxacin acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, leading to bacterial cell death. Igcip Eye/Ear Drops provide targeted antimicrobial activity with minimal systemic absorption, reducing the risk of systemic side effects. The solution is sterile, preservative-containing, and designed for topical application to the affected eye or ear.
Dosage and duration of therapy should be determined by a healthcare professional based on the severity and type of infection. Patients should be advised to avoid contaminating the dropper tip and to complete the full course of treatment to prevent resistance development. Common side effects may include transient burning or stinging upon instillation. Use is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or other quinolones.
