This formulation provides both rapid onset and prolonged glycemic control by combining the immediate glucose-lowering effects of soluble human insulin with the sustained action of insulin isophane, facilitating improved postprandial and basal glucose regulation.

Administered via subcutaneous injection, Human Mixtard 50 is typically used in patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes when diet, exercise, and oral hypoglycemic agents do not provide adequate glycemic control. Dosage and timing should be individualized based on the patient’s metabolic needs, blood glucose monitoring, and lifestyle factors. Caution is advised to avoid hypoglycemia, particularly during dose adjustments, changes in physical activity, or alterations in meal patterns.
This insulin preparation should not be mixed with other insulins or diluted. Proper injection technique and rotation of injection sites are essential to minimize local adverse effects such as lipodystrophy. Human Mixtard 50 Injection is contraindicated in patients with hypoglycemia or hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation. Regular monitoring of blood glucose and HbA1c levels is recommended to optimize therapeutic outcomes.
