Hitum Dry Syrup contains Cefuroxime axetil equivalent to 125 mg of Cefuroxime per 5 ml after reconstitution. Cefuroxime is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with a broad spectrum of activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death, making it effective in treating various bacterial infections. Hitum Dry Syrup is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, and pharyngitis, as well as urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media caused by susceptible organisms. The dry syrup formulation is particularly suitable for pediatric patients or those who have difficulty swallowing tablets. After reconstitution with the appropriate amount of water, the suspension should be shaken well before each use to ensure uniform distribution of the active ingredient. Dosage and duration of therapy should be determined by the severity of infection and patient-specific factors, including age and renal function.
