Polmacoxib exerts its therapeutic effects by selectively inhibiting the COX-2 enzyme, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in inflammation and pain, while sparing COX-1 activity to minimize gastrointestinal adverse effects commonly associated with non-selective NSAIDs.
