It is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible organisms, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media. Cefpodoxime Proxetil acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. The prodrug form enhances oral bioavailability, ensuring effective systemic concentrations after administration. Hipod-PD Drop is formulated for pediatric use, providing an age-appropriate dosage form that facilitates accurate dosing and improved compliance. It is generally well tolerated; however, potential adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort, as well as hypersensitivity reactions in patients with a history of beta-lactam allergy.
