Hipod-CV 100 Oral Suspension is a combination antibiotic formulation containing Cefpodoxime Proxetil 100 mg and Clavulanic Acid 62.5 mg per 5 ml. Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin, exhibits broad-spectrum bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances the efficacy of Cefpodoxime by preventing enzymatic degradation by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, thereby extending the antimicrobial spectrum. This oral suspension is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and otitis media caused by susceptible organisms. Hipod-CV 100 is particularly effective against beta-lactamase-producing strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, and certain Enterobacteriaceae. The suspension form facilitates ease of administration in pediatric and adult patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets. Dosage and duration of therapy should be guided by the severity of infection and renal function status. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort.
