Hipcef 500 Tablet contains Cefuroxime 500mg, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic effective against a broad spectrum of bacterial infections. It is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, septicemia, bone and joint infections, and Lyme disease.

Hipcef 500 is administered orally and is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, achieving therapeutic concentrations in various body tissues and fluids. The dosage and duration of therapy depend on the severity and type of infection, as well as patient-specific factors including renal function. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and hypersensitivity reactions like rash and pruritus.
Caution is advised in patients with a history of penicillin or cephalosporin allergy. Renal impairment necessitates dose adjustment to prevent accumulation and toxicity. Hipcef 500 should be used under medical supervision, ensuring appropriate culture and sensitivity testing to minimize resistance development.
